Avianca se acabo (2007) by Leonardo Pineda.  This young artist from Bogota (Colombia) is one of my favorites.  Often compared to Basquiat in his use of color, brushstrokes, writings and iconography, his best works are still to come.  His gallerist (Galleria 415) states: “The urban background with its vibrant cityscapes, hectic traffic and intense pulse are recurring subjects of Leonardo Pineda as are his still lifes of everyday household objects. His ‘in your face’ approach is irreverent, witty and sarcastic. This fresh and uncompromising style, with its brilliant colors, resides somewhere in the borderland between graffiti and pop art and has justly been compared to the works of Basquiat”.
